DEPARTMENT OF MCA
place:Vijayawada
On the occasion of International Yoga Day, Andhra Loyola College came alive with enthusiasm and spiritual energy as students, faculty, and staff united to celebrate the ancient science of health and harmony — Yoga.
The event began in the early morning hours with a brief introduction on the importance of Yoga in daily life. Emphasizing the theme of "Yoga for Self and Society", speakers highlighted how the consistent practice of yoga can help maintain physical well-being, mental clarity, emotional stability, and inner peace.
Participants were guided through a series of basic yoga asanas, suitable for all age groups and fitness levels:
-
Vajrasana (Thunderbolt Pose): This seated posture was practiced to calm the mind and enhance digestion. It also serves as a preparatory pose for meditation and pranayama.
-
Shashankasana (Rabbit or Child’s Pose): A gentle forward-bending asana that helps relax the spine, release stress, and improve focus. It was especially appreciated by students dealing with academic pressure.
-
Tadasana (Mountain Pose): A foundational standing pose that promotes balance, awareness, and posture correction.
-
Bhujangasana (Cobra Pose): This energizing backbend helped in activating the spine and relieving back stiffness from long hours of study or screen use.
-
Trikonasana (Triangle Pose): Practiced to improve flexibility, stimulate digestion, and reduce anxiety.
-
Pranayama (Breathing Techniques): The session concluded with a focus on Anulom-Vilom and Bhramari Pranayama, emphasizing mindful breathing, calming the nervous system, and increasing lung capacity.
Throughout the event, certified yoga instructors guided the participants with clear instructions and encouraged them to tune into their breath and body. Light background music and nature sounds created a serene atmosphere, helping everyone stay centered and relaxed.
The program ended with a collective meditation session, followed by a refreshing herbal drink served to all participants. The college principal appreciated the enthusiasm of the students and faculty and encouraged everyone to incorporate yoga into their daily routine for a healthier and more peaceful life.
This celebration served not only as a reminder of India’s rich spiritual heritage but also as a step towards building a more mindful and health-conscious student community.
